king of cups

This would be the tarot card I designed for Amanda Palmer's deck coming out sometime in the near future. It's the King of Cups. He has heart for brains.

end times, end times, end. times.

I have nothing interesting to say about it. I am under-read with a malnurished vocabulary. I do however like saying it 3 times to the rhythm used during the opening credits of the short lived 80's sitcom, Square Pegs.
Lift up your dread and skip off a cliff.

hello, my name is...

I started this series of portraits 2 years ago while spending a lot of time indoors during a particularly bitter winter in Brooklyn.
The one above is of Our Lady J, who was kind enough to use it to promote one of her concerts in NYC.
It's my favorite thus far.
The self portrait above, and first in the series, was an attempt to lay aside some baggage that had been blocking me creatively.
The photograph that I'm using in this self portrait is of my grandfather. Our Lady J's photo is of her great grandmother. You see, this experiment involves taking a photograph, preferably of someone the subject knew personally, who has passed on, and has had a profound impact on who the subject became as an adult. The information within the name badge is a symbolic representation of what was passed down to the subject from the person in the photograph. This information is reflected in a window pane, as is the face of the departed. There's more to this choice, but I'll keep that to myself for now.
The end result is an homage to the revered departed and a celebration of how they live on through the subject.
I would like to do few more of these...

the cool ghoul

The Cool Ghoul, aka Dick Von Hoene, was a radio/television personality and late night horror movie host who had a profound impact on who would one day become themegoman.
I met him when I was five years old while waiting in line to enter a haunted house with my father in Cincinnati, Ohio. He could see that I was terrified, so he approached us in an effort to calm me down.
I was completely star struck and soon my fears melted far away. He even walked into the haunted house with us until he was sure that I would be alright.
Sadly, the cool ghoul passed away in 2004 after a sudden heart attack.
Thank god for ghouls.

Refuse the Dance

When told to dance and sun still burns,
He turns to you, back arched, teeth bare.
Their nerves of steel now caked with rust.
Trust not the crawling, creeping dust.

Trust not the speckled, dancing orbs.
They tell you lies. A whispered sting.
Things not to find on sunny days.
The bright refuse the dance and say...

I will not see the open door. Dancing banshee. Dancing whore.
The door is closed for me today. The sun can die and go away.

One was light. The other, dark.
Spark fleeting rumors of decay.
May one infect the other's joy?
Spackle the hole. Feed the boy.

A hand outstretched from darker child.
Wild tendons march on willing glove.
Love what the night might teach the day.
They both refuse the dance and say...

I will not see the open door. Dancing banshee. Dancing whore.
The door is closed for me today. The sun can die and go away.

"What does this mean?" spoke dark to dark.
Mark every word within your head.
Dead hardly ever walk the night.
They much prefer the day instead.

Both child departs to spread the shade.
Made gingerly on sun warmed street.
Meet one of them, don't seize the day.
Be bright. Refuse the dance and say...

I will not see the open door. Dancing banshee. Dancing whore.
The door is closed for me today. The sun can die and go away.
